What can you do for your mother ?? Can you give her a new life, a fresh start?? Lets take a view on our Mythology

Renuka or Yellama is worshipped as a goddess in Maharashtra, Telengana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka. Her legends are contained in the Mahabharata, the Harivamsa and in the Bhagwat Puran.

She was known for her Chastity, due to her Chastity she was able to bring Ganga from kailash to quench her husband, Jamadagni's thirst.

Her legends teaches us the extreme Psychological bonding between a son and a mother. Renuka had five sons Vasu, Viswa Vasu, Brihudyanu, Brutwakanwa and Rambhadra. Rambhadra was the youngest and most beloved. As Renuka was known for her chastity, she had a boon that until she maintain her Chastity she can collect water in unbaked pots. Now, One day when Renuka went to the pond, she saw a Gandharva enjoying over the pond with his wife. She just thought that the Gandhrava is beautiful for a moment. she lost her concentration and devotion to her husband for a moment as she started thinking about another man. As she was distracted, she lost her power of collecting water in unbaked pots. She lost the water which she had collected. Disappointed by this, she returned to the ashram in worry. Jamadagni saw all these events through his yogic power. Jamadagni became furious and as a punishment he ordered his elder four sons to kill Renuka but all of them refuse to kill their mother. Jamadagni, cursed his four sons to become stone for disobeying his order. Jamadagni called his fifth son Rambhadra who was meditating on Lord Shiva and ordered him to behead Renuka. Rambhadra immediately obeyed his father's words and beheaded his mother with his axe. Though Rambhadra is devoted to his mother he didn't wish to disrespect his father's words because he believed father's words are superior than vedic mantras. Jamadangi was very much pleased by Rambhadra's devotion towards him. He then offered a boon to Rambhadra and Rambhadra asked for his mother and brothers life. Rambhadra knew the power of his father that's why he obeyed his command. This Rambhadra is actually known to us as the Great Parashurama, With penance after his father's death, he was bestowed with an Axe (Parshu) and henceforth called as Parashurama.

In this story we have seen the sense and power of intuition of Parashurama. As he knew the power and capacity of his father he treated the anger of his father with respect to that and if we don't take it literally, if we understand the essence of this story we can see a rebirth or regeneration of Renuka after which she became a goddess, Goddess Yellama.

That means a son or daughter can regenerate, purify the thoughts of their parents. They can give their parents a new fresh start by knowing their temperament and capacity.

So, from this legend we can see a highest level of bonding between a mother and a son where a son can back his mother into a great life..
