Is Anger a quality?? what is the best use of this quality?? What is Hindu Mythological perspectives over this Psychological factor known as "Anger"??

Anger, one of the major feelings of all the human beings. We cannot live without it. But, we cannot live with it too. In Hindu Mythology Anger takes an important role. To depict the anger, Hindu shastra represented a god , a thought name Kartikeya or, Saravan or, Sanmukha or, Murugan or, Skanda. Various scriptures  various names.

Unlike other Mythology in Hindu Mythology This angry God is a very good looking, handsome one. But in India we believe in diversity. In North India Kartikeya believed as a bachelor one, whereas in South India he has two wives one is Devsena (the daughter of Indra) and another one is Valli (daughter of a tribal king).

Now, these concepts clearly show two thoughts of society. In North India being a handsom one kartikeya has no interest to be married or to be householder. He is a warrior and somehow it shows that a warrior, who is living his life with a plenty of risks in battlefield, has an immense love and liabilities towards his duty, which should not allow him to any kind of Involvement in domestic life. It is simply denoted that a soldier, or an army, or a warrior who lives with a minimum domestic involvement, can perform his duty without any hesitation. So, in Eastern side of India the couple urge for a baby boy, worship Kartik, as he is the perfect example of a loyal, consummate, liable, dutiful personality.

But, in southern part they Worship him as a  knowledgeable, skilled war god, Murugan. His first wife Devsena is related with sky or Swarga and his second wife Valli is related with earth or Martya. And most of the Murugan temple is situated over mountains. So he is the wise god who has the knowledge of two worlds. And, as he settled over mountain so he can keep his eyes on both the worlds like a protector. Spear in his hand always represent him as a defender of the world.

There are various stories about the birth of Kartikeya. In Mahabharata Van Parva we find that Kartikeya was the son of Agni and his wife Swaha. As Agni felt affection with seven wives of Saptarishis, he became desperate to connect physically with them. When Swaha came to know the matter, to pacify Agni she took the form of six wives of six rishis (except Arundhuti, the wife of Vasistha) and she became pregnant after six times intimation. And she gave birth of a baby boy who had six heads (San - mukha). When the Rishis are awared of the fact, they started to doubt on their wives and they ordered their wives to be separated, those six women started to live together and they are known as Kritikas. In rage they came to kill the baby but watching his splendor looks they felt motherly approach to the baby boy, and they became the mothers of the boy. So, the son of Kritikas known as Kartikeya.

In Valmiki Ramayana it is said that Murugan was the son of Shiva and Parvati. Due to the extreme disturbance of an Asura named Taraka, Devas was so much distressed. So they went to Brahma to find a solution. But Brahma said that Asura could be killed by a seven days aged boy. Everyone was tensed to find that kind of powerful boy who can defeat the Asura at his  7 days of age.. Then Vishnu suggested them that kind of boy can only be produced from the semen of Shiva. To turn the hermit Shiva to a householder Devas had struggled a lot and finally Shiva married to Parvati. At the time of making love,  they are disturbed, and Shiva inadvertently spills his semen on the Ground as a form of fiery seed. That was too much hot to carry, so Shiva handed that seed over to Agni. But unable to bear the heat, Agni transferred the responsibility to Ganga. But Ganga also failed to handle it and she drop the hot semen seed on the Sara Van. And finally the baby had born. According to his birth place he was named Saravan. To exhibit his extraordinary power, he was born with six heads so he is also known as Sanmukha. To see the baby boy alone at the sara van six Kritikas felt motherly to him and they became his mother so, he also known as Kartikeya. At the age of seven days he killed the demon Taraka. Due to huff on mother Parvati he went towards South India and settled there. This may be signifies that the knowledge or wisdom moves from North India to South India, as Kartikeya is known as wise God. Once he asked Brahma the meaning of "OM ", but he was not satisfied with the answer, then he asked Shiva the same one but still he was unsatisfied and finally he said Shiva the meaning of "OM" listening to that Shiva and Shakti apprised his wisdom. That's how his knowledge was depicted in scriptures.

So, arrogance or aggressiveness is a normal psychological aspect but it's normal when you know how, where and when you should apply this. That's the secret of the god Kartikeya. Different faiths, different believes and from that we get different meaning and psychological way out.

Thank you very much.
